Joe Torres

Joe Torres was born and raised less than one mile from the main campus of Richmond University Medical Center. A proud graduate of Monsignor Farrell High School, Joe entered the field of financial planning and asset management upon graduating from New York University in 1992. Joe currently manages his advisory practice at Merrill Lynch on Staten Island. 

Joe serves as Vice Chairman of both the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation and the Richmond University Medical Center Foundation. His other board directorships include Project Hospitality, The Richmond County Country Club, Staten Island Community Board 2, The Staten island Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and The South Shore Rotary Club(Past President and Paul Harris Fellow). Previously, Joe held directorships with Notre Dame Academy and The Giving Hope Network. His recognitions have included The Distinction of Leadership to the Hispanic Community of Staten Island from The New York Commission on Human Rights and El Centro Del Immigrante(2017), The SI Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year Award(2018), The Jack Sipp Distinguished Service Award(2019), The SIEDC’s Most Impactful Private Sector Leadership Award(2021), and the Richard E. Diamond Memorial Award(2022). 

From 2015 to 2019 Joe served as Chairman of RUMC’s successful capital campaign to develop our new, state of the art Emergency Department. Joe resides on Staten Island with his wife Jackie and daughter Lillian.
