Anita Laremont

Anita Laremont is a partner in the law firm of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP, where she practices in the areas of land use and real estate.  Prior to joining Fried Frank, Anita served eight years at the New York City Department of City Planning, where she was Chair of the New York City Planning Commission and Director of the Department.  

Before being appointed Chair by Mayor DeBlasio, Anita served as both Executive Director and as General Counsel of the agency.  Prior to joining City Planning, Anita was a partner in the law firm of Harris Beach PLLC, where she had a real estate and land use law and government agency practice.  Before joining Harris Beach, Anita served for many years as General Counsel of Empire State Development Corporation, New York State’s primary economic development entity, where she oversaw all legal aspects of numerous large-scale land use projects, including the 42nd Street Development Project, Queens West, Hudson River Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Governors Island, Atlantic Yards and Columbia Manhattanville. 

Anita is a magna cum laude graduate of Mount Holyoke College, and is a graduate of New York University School of Law, where she was a Root Tilden Scholar.
