Joe Torres was born and raised in West Brighton, a stone’s throw from RUMC’s main campus. A graduate of Msgr. Farrell High School and New York University, he embarked on a career in financial planning and asset management 27 years ago. Currently serving his clientele of families, institutions and charitable foundations from his offices at Merrill Lynch at 900 South Avenue, Joe joined the RUMC family through his initiation onto our Foundation Board six years ago. Subsequent to his enrollment for board service, Joe was appointed chairman of our highly successful and well received campaign to build our state of the art, $90 million Emergency Department.

 In addition to his directorship at RUMC, Joe is currently a member of, and holds committee positions with, the boards of The Staten Island Economic Development Corporation, Project Hospitality, The Giving Hope Network, Notre Dame Academy, and The Staten Island Chamber of Commerce Foundation, while serving as the current chairman of their membership council. His community involvement includes membership within the South Shore Rotary, Staten Island Collaborative Law Group, The Richmond County Country Club, The St. George Theater, Richmond County Referral Source, Tunnel2Towers and the Italian Cultural Foundation at Casa Belvedere.

Joe lives in Staten Island with his wife, Jackie and daughter, Lillian. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with family, golf, collecting vinyl records and Beatles memorabilia, entertaining guests, volunteering, community activism and promoting the betterment of the greatest city in the world, Staten Island.
