Dependable Women’s Health Care You Can Trust

Whether you’re new to the area and looking for a new caregiver, or have an immediate question or concern, you’re making a responsible choice for your long-term health by scheduling your appointment. We know that matters of fertility, sexuality, and even basic biology can be daunting to navigate, and that’s why we’re proud to offer a comprehensive range of care at Richmond University Medical Center. Our comfortable facility with private maternity suites is staffed by knowledgeable professionals who care about your personal wellness and your education—and you’ll always enjoy full rights as a patient.

Obstetrics

It’s critical that you don’t wait until after your baby is born to start thinking about what you can do to ensure the health of your child. If you have specific concerns about STIs, genetics, or other health concerns, a consultation with one of our doctors can give you the knowledge and peace of mind you need to make smart choices for the future. We can help predict when labor will begin (or identify if it’s happening already), and will provide full post-partum care for the new mother. In the case of any unexpected complications, you can trust us to make an informed decision should the need for an induced labor or Cesarean delivery arise.

Gynecology

For young and old alike, quality gynecological care is important in order to provide knowledge and resources for patient needs around sexually transmitted infections, hormonal concerns, family planning, and menstruation. Beyond our commitment to basic sexual and reproductive health, we’re proud that our doctors can serve as overall women’s health consultants for our patients, providing screenings, immunizations, and comprehensive care for mental and physical well-being.

Infertility

Our gynecology and obstetrics team offers reproductive endocrinology and infertility services to help address any fertility issues that may affect a potential pregnancy. We’ll examine every possible factor before consulting with you to determine the best course of action.

Preterm Labor

Preterm labor, which occurs when the cervix opens after week 20 and before week 37 of pregnancy, may result from a diverse array of risk factors. Additionally, preterm labor can lead to premature birth, after which your newborn may require special treatment. Our gynecological and obstetrics team is fully equipped to handle both preterm labor and premature infant care.

Gestational Diabetes Program

Gestational diabetes occurs when high blood glucose levels are identified in pregnant women who don’t already have diabetes. While the direct cause of gestational diabetes has yet to be identified, the condition may affect your baby if it’s left uncontrolled. Fortunately, the condition can be monitored and managed with the help of our gestational diabetes program.

High-Risk Obstetrical Services

High-risk pregnancies, which occur when the health or life of either mother or child come under threat, require precise, specialized care. Factors that contribute to high-risk pregnancies range from medical conditions, including heart disease and diabetes, to lifestyle choices, such as alcohol use. Our high-risk prenatal specialists offer expert care for mothers at all stages of pregnancy.

Prenatal Assistance Program

RUMC offers the complete Prenatal Care Assistance Program (PCAP) to help ensure a healthy pregnancy. Available to eligible women and teens who live in New York State, this plan offers a comprehensive selection of essential pregnancy services, including routine medical checkups, hospital care during pregnancy and delivery and pregnancy-related information and guidance.
