Outpatient Services

At Richmond University Medical Center, we offer a full array of diagnostic testing and treatment options for patients with cardiac conditions and heart disease. These include:

Electrocardiograms (EKG)

Electrocardiograms are an innovative diagnostic tool. An EKG records the electric signal from your heart and is useful in detecting arrhythmias, heart attacks, and heart failure.

Echocardiograms

An echocardiogram is a type of ultrasound that uses two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and Doppler ultrasound waves to create a clear image of the heart. This image can then be used to diagnose conditions that affect the heart’s valves and chambers.

Vascular Ultrasounds

Using similar techniques to an echocardiogram, vascular ultrasounds form images of blood vessels. At Richmond University Medical Center, we use this tool to diagnose blood clots, blockages, and other sources of congestion.

Cardiac Stress Tests

Richmond University Medical Center uses cardiac stress tests to measure your heart’s ability to respond to stress, such as exercise or other stimulation. The stress test is an essential tool for identifying problems with blood flow, like blockages, or arrhythmias aggravated by stress.

Holter Monitors and Telemetry

In some cases, an instant test is insufficient as a diagnostic tool. That’s why Richmond University Medical Center also makes use of the Holter monitor and other telemetry devices that can track heart activity over two to 30 days in order to provide a better view of heart function over time.

ABI/PVR Test

Ankle brachial index (ABI) and pulse volume recording (PVR) tests are noninvasive and can be used in conjunction with each other or separately. They are useful for measuring blood pressure and detecting anomalies and blockages, especially those located in the limbs.

Angioplasty

Richmond University Medical Center uses angioplasty and stenting to widen narrow or obstructed veins and arteries. The procedure is minimally invasive and valuable for the treatment of blocked arteries. It can also reduce damage to the heart during and after a heart attack.
