STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- As New York City logs its first days in Phase 1 of the state’s reopening plan, coupled with recent protests concerning the death of George Floyd, doctors at both Staten Island hospitals worry about the potential for a spike in coronavirus (COVID-19) infections.
“I think it’s a definite possibility,” said Dr. Theodore Maniatis, who is responsible for all medical affairs, quality management, patient safety issues and standards of care at the Staten Island University Hospital system.
