STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Colorful drawings and heartfelt messages of appreciation adorn the lobby of Richmond University Medical Center, thanks to Staten Island children who want to remind the hospital staff of how important they are in the fight against coronavirus.
So far, the West Brighton hospital has received dozens of submissions for the display, which has been dubbed “Project Thank You."
“The idea is to have this artwork draped across our entire main lobby at some point,” a hospital spokesperson said. “This display is to support those who are heroically on the front lines.”

Children still interested in submitting drawings may do so by mailing a laminated or plastic-protected piece of art to the hospital at 355 Bard Ave., Staten Island, NY, 10310. Some parents also have included a photo of their child with their name and age attached.
The artwork will remain on display until further notice.

The project isn’t the only way Staten Islanders have said “thank you” to essential workers.
Local artist Scott LoBaido erected several “THANK YOU” signs in front of Staten Island’s hospitals. Others have driven by the hospitals, waving signs of support from their car windows.
