STATEN ISLAND NUMBERS

The city Health Department on Sunday morning reported more than 32,000 cases citywide, which represents a nearly 11% increase from Saturday morning, a spokesman said.

There were 1,866 cases of coronavirus recorded on Staten Island as of Sunday morning. That figures includes 85 new cases since Saturday evening.

At Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze, 151 patients are hospitalized with coronavirus. An additional 50 patients are located at the hospital’s Prince’s Bay campus.

Despite the influx in patients, Staten Island University Hospital currently has an “adequate supply of protective equipment and ventilators,” said spokesman Christian Preston.

He added that the hospital relaxed its visitation policy in labor and delivery rooms as of Saturday to allow one support person.

At Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC) in West Brighton, 115 tests have come back positive for COVID-19, said RUMC spokesman Alexander Lutz. The hospital currently is caring for 64 patients, including 13 in the intensive care unit.

RUMC is attempting to secure additional ventilators through New York State and the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) “as quickly as possible,” Lutz said.

“We want to thank our elected official delegation, New York State Department of Health and GNYHA for their efforts to help us obtain additional ventilators."
