Stroke Center
Richmond University Medical Center has earned the distinction of Designated Stroke Center by the New York State Department of Health. Our staff is trained to provide the most comprehensive care to stroke patients. Our goal, with the New York State Department of Health, is to improve the standard and access to quality of care for patients with a presumptive diagnosis of stroke. For the third consecutive year (2010-2013), RUMC has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Associations' Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award.
Knowing the signs of stroke can save your life. If you experience a sudden onset of difficulty with speech, walking or vision, or sudden numbness of the face, arm or leg - particularly on one side of the body - do not delay by calling a friend or doctor. Call 911 immediately. Every minute counts when treating a stroke.
