The group meets monthly at the hospital. The Mission of the March of Dimes NICU Parent Friendship Group is to provide compassionateempathetic friendship and support to the parents of babies who are currently in, or “graduates” of, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). March of Dimes Mission Family Team Volunteers and NICU parents, meet on a monthly basis to share their stories, and partner in the special journey that they experience as they help their children grow, thrive and cope with the unique challenges that often accompany a diagnosis of premature birth. RUMC consistently maintains a NICU survival rate well above the national benchmark set by the Vermont Oxford Network, a non-profit voluntary collaboration of health care professional dedicated to improving the quality and safety of medical care for newborn infants and their families. According to recently release data, in 2014, RUMC maintained a 99% survival rate.
